McHenry County College hosts symposium

The Green Business Referral Exchange, the Lou Marchi Total Recycling Institute at McHenry County College and the McHenry County Environmental Alliance are presenting a Beginning Bioneers symposium from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8 at the college, 8900 Route 14, Crystal Lake.

Beginning Bioneers will feature sessions from the October 2008 national Bioneers conference. Additional presentations by regional experts will focus on energy savings, green building, recovering water on residential property, and sustainable agriculture. Area residents will have an opportunity to gather information and tools for use in their own yard or neighborhood. Also, many local green businesses and organizations will have exhibits displaying ways to make businesses and people's residences more sustainable.

The Bioneers is an award-winning national group of people which, for almost 20 years, have been a leading source of innovative solutions for individuals, communities, cultures and generations to catalyze and grow strategic networks to promote a more sustainable world.

Cost to attend the symposium is $25 in advance and $30 at the door. Fee includes lunch. To register, call (815) 455-8588 and use course ID: NCCS50001. For more information, visit www.mcbioneers.com, email pdieckho@mchenry.edu or call (815) 479-7817.
