Algonquin Commons giving out treats
With the arrival of October today, it's crunchtime. What will your costume be?
Will you go the ghoulish route, the cutesy route or the political route?
Once you have the hard part figured out, Algonquin Commons is going to make the trick or treating part easy for you.
Once again, the shopping center along Randall Road will be holding its safe trick-or-treating event.
Starting at noon on Sunday, Oct. 26, the mall's merchants will be handing out sweet goodies to your little devils and angels in a safe atmosphere.
If you haven't gone in the past, it's a popular event that's a fun way for the kids to get that coveted candy, while walking in daylight to the different stores. The trick-or-treating runs until 2 p.m.
This year, the mall is introducing a new event - the introduction of the Algonquin Commons prize wheel.
There also will be a costume contest for the kiddies, so get thinking and come up with that brilliant idea now.
A little help: If you can't come up with the costume yet, you might want to head to the mall's new Spirit of Halloween store.
In addition to finding all sorts of Halloween costumes, you'll also have a chance inside of the store to win a trip for two to Hawaii, along with $1,000.
Discounts for teachers: Educators will get a deal at Border's Books in Algonquin this weekend.
Friday through Sunday, Oct. 3 to 5, teachers with a proof of educator status can stop by the store along Randall Road for 25 percent off the list price of almost everything.
There also will be a free tote bag with every $40 purchase.
If you stop in on Friday, there will be a special reception from 4 to 8 p.m. The event will feature food, fun and prizes.
The event is free.
