Marian Central choir sings at centennial Mass

The Marian Central Catholic High School choir traveled recently to Northern Illinois University in DeKalb to join with other parish choirs from throughout the Rockford Diocese to participate in the Diocesan Centennial Mass.

Marian Central's choir was the only high school choir to participate in this historic event.

The Sept. 23 Mass was the kickoff liturgy for the 100th year anniversary of the founding of the diocese. Marian Central rehearsed at the school and then joined the about 300 other choir members for rehearsal before the Mass, which was celebrated at the Convocation Center at NIU.

A 20-piece orchestra, an organ and a handbell choir accompanied the Diocesan Choir.
