World Class Basketball Association: The World Class Basketball Association is looking for players for the 2008-09 Winter AAU/travel basketball season. Players in fifth-eighth grade, who are serious about the game of basketball and have a desire to play high school basketball in the future, are being sought. Fall golf specials: The Des Plaines Park District will offer two new specials at the Lake Park Golf Course, Howard and Lee streets. Seven Dollar Sundays and the Five Dollar After School Special are available through Oct. 31 for golfers of all ages. Residents and nonresidents, can play unlimited golf for $7 all day on Sunday. The $5 After School Special allows golfers unlimited play after 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Call (847) 391-5730.
Men's Flag football: The Northfield Football League, a premiere adult men's flag football league, is searching for teams and players for the upcoming fall season. Games are played on Sunday mornings in the Schiller Park area on Irving Park Road between Cumberland and River Road. This is the only league that plays 1 1/2 hour games, two referees per game. Used sports ball collection: In cooperation with the Illinois Park and Recreation Association and Rebound Sports Project, the South Barrington Park District will be collecting old soccer balls, volleyballs and basketballs through Sept. 10 at the park district office, 3 Tennis Club Lane, South Barrington.
