Schaumburg library offers tips on blogs, job hunts, surfing the Web
For anyone looking for valuable tips and instruction on starting a blog, learning about wikis and RSS feeds or job hunting on the Internet, the Schaumburg Township District Library, 130 S. Roselle Road, Schaumburg is offering free instructional workshops.
September's instructional workshops kick off with "Blogging for Beginners" at 7 p.m., Monday, Sept. 8 in the adult classroom. Participants will see some examples of blogs, learn how to register for a blog and how to incorporate various features, including text, photos and links.
A "Web 2.0 Training Lab" will be held at 7 p.m., Monday, Sept. 29 in the adult classroom. Reference librarian Kristine Kenney will explore Web 2.0 technologies, while an online tutorial will take participants step-by-step through the latest networking technologies, including blogs, wikis and RSS feeds.
"Job Hunting on the Internet" will be held at 7 p.m., Monday, Oct. 6 in the adult classroom. Searching online for job opportunities has become a common practice, but which sites are valuable and which should be avoided? Learn how the Internet can be a great tool in finding the right job and increasing your chances of gaining employment or entering a new career field.
