Fall I Storytime Registration: Parents may register their children for the Mount Prospect Library's fall Storytime series anytime between Aug. 18 and 28. This series runs Sept. 8 through Oct. 17, and offers a variety of programs suitable for children ages six and under. Registration is determined by lottery and is reserved for Mount Prospect cardholders. Register in person at the Youth Services Desk to participate in the lottery. Call (847) 253-5675.

The Aztec Storytime: 7-8 p.m. Aug. 19, Indian Trails Public Library, 355 S. Schoenbeck Road, Wheeling. Learn about the small, Nahuatl-speaking tribe and the dangers of Mesoamerica. Make Your Own Lava Light: 1-3 p.m. Aug. 20; Des Plaines History Center, 781 Pearson St. Make your own version of this 1960's-1970's fad using a bottle, flashlight and a few simple ingredients.
