Kirk Players auditions: 7 p.m. Aug. 4 and 5, Cuneo Museum and Gardens, 1350 Milwaukee Ave., Vernon Hills. The Kirk Players are opening auditions for "Hats, the Musical" for women over 50 who sing and have some acting experience. Ladies should prepare an up-tempo song and a ballad and bring their own music. No appointments, this is not a paying role. Astronomy Under the City Lights: 7:30 p.m. Aug. 6, outside the Ela Public Library, 275 Mohawk Trail, Lake Zurich. The Lake County Astronomical Society will have powerful telescopes for participants to view the moon and planets. Free, suitable for all ages. No registration is required.
