We need an average person as president

I am trying to understand who would elect a 70-plus year old McCain versus Obama. Obama has shown that anybody could be president, especially in modern times. I have thought, as many people have, that we need an "average" person as a president. Sure, he has risen from poor to "elite" as the African community suggests, and as a whole we struggle to work and commit to family. How did he do it? I have seen the TV specials on him. We need someone who can bridge the gap between the youth, 30s, 40s and 50s and the aging population. Enough of the right wing Republican views that only fight for their personal agendas.

Our Forefathers struggled with God, church and state, and slavery before the Constitution. Modern Republicans have disregarded these views and our great leaders. What does Bush and other leaders think when they see and read the history in the White House or the writings of Benjamin Franklin and John Adams? Who can bridge the gap of the poor? We all want the same in the long run - to be married, raise a family and retire comfortably and "pursue happiness."

Help could come from a third party. There are others - Libertarian and Green party. I haven't heard a peep about the Constitution Party or Ron Paul. I am not for a third party or Obama. I am for a real American and patriot.

I would hope the Daily Herald would explore this, as free as journalists should be, since this is how our country gained its freedom and fought big government.
