ASA State Recreational Softball Championships: Co-Rec 14-inch Aug. 1-3; registration deadline is July 18. Hosted by Mount Prospect Park District. Barrington/Palatine outdoor tennis programs: The Barrington and Palatine Park Districts invites you to register for Summer Outdoor Youth and Adult Tennis programs being held through Aug. 22. Programs are under the direction of Frank Sacks Tennis Camps Inc., and follow the guidelines of the United States Tennis Associaiton USA Tennis 1-2-3 programs and grow-the-game initiatives. Classes will be held at various parks. The programs emphasizes fun, fitness and friendship and offer youth junior camps and group classes for all ages and levels including adults. Chicago Inline Marathon: 8 a.m. July 26, Hoffman Estates. Recreational, fitness and expert skaters of all ages and levels and invited to participate in this 26.2 mile, skating marathon. ComEd First Pitch at Wrigley Field: July 30 is the deadline to register for the Home Run sweepstakes for a chance to throw out the ceremonial opening pitch at the Aug. 28 Chicago Cubs home game against the Philadelphia Phillies and four field box tickets to the game. Northwest Travelers Baseball Tryouts (10U -14U):
Northwest Travelers Baseball will conduct tryouts for the 2009 teams on these dates and times at Harper College in Palatine. Players need only attend one date but can attend as many as they would like, pre-registration is not required, register on day of tryout.
