Former DuPage Co. Fair queen to be honored

Donna Reever Kouros, the 1980 DuPage County Fair Queen, will be remembered with a tribute during the opening ceremony at 11 a.m. July 23.

A memorial brick will be added to the fair's memory walkway for Mrs. Kouros, who died unexpectedly from a heart condition on May 9 at her home in Oswego.

The following tribute was written by her mother, Rose Reever of Addison, a DuPage County Fair Association director.

The DuPage County Fair has been a big part of Donna's life since she was a young girl. She enjoyed the excitement of entering in open class, along with her sister Jane, and brothers Donald and Ryan. They said it felt a little like Christmas morning. Donna eagerly entered cakes, cookies, flowers, photos and ceramics each year.

Donna was invited back to relive her fair queen days in 2005, and enjoyed celebrating the 25th anniversary of her reign. She especially enjoyed the happy faces of the children along with her son George.

Donna's life verse is found in Psalm 96, "Sing to the Lorad a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth."

We are thankful and blessed for her life and this is a good way to keep her memory, with a smile on our faces and a song in our heart. Donna was a beautiful person inside and out.

She will be greatly missed by her husband Tony, son George; parents, Don and Rose; mother-and father-in-law, George and Vivian; sister Jane (Bob Kahman); brothers Don (Stacy), Ryan (Amy); brothers-in-law Peter (Andrea) and Chris; nieces and nephews, Roseanne, Tony (Lauren), Liz, Mary, Emma, Curtis, Kelly, Kassidy, Alex, Anastasia, Christina, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
