McHenry bicyclist killed by train in Crystal Lake
A McHenry man was hit by a freight train and killed while riding his bicycle early today in Crystal Lake, police said.
Emergency crews found the body of Michael A. Marriner, 39, of 2203 Coolidge Ave. on the west side of the railroad tracks at Crystal Lake Avenue and East Street.
Witnesses said Marriner had been heading east on Crystal Lake Avenue when he entered the railroad crossing and was hit by a Union Pacific train traveling northwest.
Crystal Lake police and the McHenry County Coroner's Office are investigating.
