Dozen people charged in wake of teens' party in Island Lake
An Island Lake woman faces charges following an underage drinking party at her home, police said Thursday.
Mary Jo Coleman, 52, of 901 Portsmouth Drive, is charged with 10 counts of permitting a violation of the liquor control act. She knowingly allowed minors to drink alcohol at her home, police said.
Additionally, Daniel C. Coleman, 19, of 166 Slocum Lake Road, Wauconda, was charged with mob action, two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, two counts of unlawfully permitting a minor to become intoxicated and underage consumption of alcohol, police said.
Thirteen other people, including several teenagers, also were arrested.
The Colemans were arrested on warrants June 3. The party occurred May 31, police said.
Police went to the Portsmouth Drive house about 10:20 p.m. after receiving a complaint about loud music, said Sgt. Anthony Sciarrone, Island Lake's acting police chief.
Officers pounded on the door but no one answered, so they went to the backyard. They found people partying loudly, and some tried to flee, police said.
One guest, 22-year-old Jessica Rice, scuffled with an officer and was arrested, police said. Rice, of 307 High St., Wauconda, was charged with felony aggravated battery to a peace officer, and misdemeanor counts of resisting a peace officer and unlawful delivery of alcohol to a minor.
Ten other guests also were arrested and charged under local ordinance with underage drinking, Sciarrone said. They were identified as:
• Megan Boldrey, 17, of 314 Arbor, Island Lake.
• Nicole M. Famighetti, 19, of 763 Appaloosa, Wauconda.
• Samuel J. Hanlon, 18, of 504 S. Circle Ave., Port Barrington.
• Michael B. McCleish, 19, of 899 Quincy Court, Island Lake.
• Megan L. Riccetti, 20, of 5193 Barcroft Court, Barrington.
• Sarah A. Schoo, 19, of 3511 Burr Oak Lane, Island Lake.
• Haily S. Sobon, 17, of 3023 Spruce Terrace, Island Lake.
• A 16-year-old Wauconda girl.
• A 15-year-old Wauconda girl.
Two guests face more serious charges.
Tammi R. Gallegos, 25, of Pueblo, Colo., was charged with mob action, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and providing alcohol to a minor.
Ann F. Robbin, 17, of 134 Vista View Drive, Wauconda, was charged with mob action, unlawful possession of alcohol by a minor, unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor and resisting a peace officer.
Officers returned to the house June 1 and questioned Mary Jo and Daniel Coleman. A beer keg still was in the yard, police said.
The warrants were issued afterward, police said.
