Participants should bring their own fishing rod and reel. Club members will discuss the best way to maintain equipment, what types of bait will be best for the upcoming fishing derby and more. • Register by June 5 for the York Center Park District's bumper bowling league, which meets from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Thursdays, June 12-July 3. Children ages 5 to 8 will travel to Stardust Bowl in Addison for two games of bowling. The cost is $30 for residents and $32 for others, which includes bowling, shoes and transportation. • The Kiwanis Club of Lombard's annual house walk, "Over the Threshold: A Tour of Distinctive Lombard Homes" will be June 6 at six homes. Tours will be offered from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 to 9 p.m. All guests also may attend a reception with designers and homeowners from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. in Lilacia Park, 150 S. Park Ave. Tickets cost $25 and proceeds will benefit local charities supported by Kiwanis and the club's scholarship fund. • The DuPage County Forest Preserve will offer Fishing for Catfish, a hands-on clinic for participants 8 and older, from 6 to 8 p.m. June 6 at Songbird Slough Forest Preserve, on Mill Road between Lake Street and Irving Park Road, Itasca. • The Villa Park Fishing Club's Family Fishing Derby will be June 7 at North Terrace Lagoon, 300 N. Westmore Ave., Villa Park. There will be a casting contest at 9 a.m., followed by the fishing derby from 10 a.m. to noon. A ranger from the DuPage County Forest Preserve will be on hand to answer questions about local wildlife. No fishing license is required, but participants must bring their own tackle and bait.
