Jail settlement proposed

An Indiana architectural firm will pay Lake County $200,000 to settle a complaint about the company's designs for a recent jail expansion, under a deal being considered by the county board. If the board approves the deal Tuesday, it won't take legal action against RQAW Consulting Engineers and Architects, officials said. County leaders say there were design flaws in the project, which began in 2003. It provided new, larger space for the jail's work-release program and more space for regular inmates.

The program is administered out of the health department's immunizations clinic, 2303 Dodge Ave., Waukegan. Clinic times are 1 to 3 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and 1 to 4:30 p.m. Thursdays. The clinic also is open from 9 to 11 a.m. every second Saturday. Hours may expand in the near future. Adults can also obtain vaccinations at monthly clinics in Antioch, Lake Zurich, Libertyville, Round Lake Beach, Wauconda and Lake Forest.
