• Brandon Gorson of Hawthorn Woods received a bachelor's degree in psychology in May 2008 from Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington.

• Charlie Sell of Wauconda, a sophomore political science major at Illinois Wesleyan University, Bloomington, was among a group of students who attended the annual International Association for Political Science Students (IAPSS) Academic Conference & General Assembly in Greece May 5 through 11.

The IAPSS Conference is hosted by Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the University of Macedonia in Serres. During the conference, the group presented their research entitled, "The Disparity of Knowledge in the Global Context" and attended a series of workshops with students from around the world.

• Brittany Pugliese of Grayslake, a student pursuing an associate degree in culinary arts from Johnson & Wales University College of Culinary Arts at the Denver campus was named to the Dean's List for the 2008 winter term. To qualify, students must earn a grade point average of 3.40 or above.

• Jennifer Winters of Gurnee graduated with a master of public administration degree from Elmhurst College at the midyear commencement ceremony held Feb. 10.

• Ashley Jacobsen of Gurnee, a student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, took part in the 10th annual Undergraduate Symposium for over 400 students to publicly shine by displaying their months of work and research to the public. On April 16, students presented, displayed and performed over 300 projects from all areas of study. The event celebrates research, creative endeavor and service learning among University of Wisconsin-Madison undergraduates.

Original work within the humanities, fine arts, and the biological, physical and social sciences were presented to the public. This year's symposium also featured several musical performances in Great Hall throughout the day.

• Daniel Morales of Round Lake Beach received a traditional baccalaureate degree from Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights at the May 17 ceremonies.

• Krystal A. Kogut of Fox Lake was named to dean's list for the 2008 January session at Columbia College in Missouri. To qualify, a student achieve a grade point average of 3.5 or greater.

• Jaime Prorok of Round Lake graduated with a bachelor's degree from Elmhurst College at the midyear commencement ceremony held Feb. 10.

• Arielle Cassiday from Spring Grove, a sophomore international studies major at Illinois Wesleyan University, Bloomington, was among a group of students who attended the annual International Association for Political Science Students (IAPSS) Academic Conference & General Assembly in Greece May 5 through 11.

• Elena Turner, daughter of Rudy and Ruth Turner of Hawthorn Woods, received her bachelor's degree in speech and hearing science on May 11, from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She has achieved University Honors, the highest award granted to undergraduates for academic excellence. She is a Lake Zurich High School graduate.

• Kaitlyn C. Eisenhuth of Deer Park, a senior majoring in Business and Behavioral Science at Clemson University in Clemson, S.C., was named to the dean's list for the fall 2007 semester.

• Caroline Bartko of Ingleside, a senior at Grant High School, and Andrew Rehm, Lindenhurst, a Lakes High School senior, participated in Central College's dean's scholar days held in February in Pella, Iowa. They were selected to participate in the 2007-08 scholarship process, which includes an interview, essay and logic component.

Dean's scholars are recognized for strong academic achievement and exemplary leadership potential. They have a high school grade point average of 3.5 or higher, or an ACT of 25 or higher, or rank in the top 20 percent of their graduating class. They also dedicate themselves to involvement in extra-curricular activities and community service.

• The University of Wisconsin-Parkside announced the following students received Dean's List Honors for the Fall 2007 semester for achieving a GPA of 3.5 or higher.

Antioch: Kelli Argot, Jenni Bowling and Cheryl Tapia.

Fox Lake: Ronny Bowman.

Grayslake: Mary Pirrello and Drew Skelley.

Lake Villa: Renee Hill, Kate Malcolm, Kevin Nelson and Hien Tran.

Round Lake Park: Kevin Pomianek and Travis Robinson.

• Augustana College in Rock Island named the following students to the Dean's List for earning a grade point average of 3.5 or higher during the winter term.

Grayslake: Cynthia M. Borchardt, first-year student; John M. Irish, senior majoring in biology and pre-medicine; Gregory T. Obert, first-year student; Nancy M. Seaholm, junior majoring in elementary education; Sara L. Waddelow, first-year student; and Michael P. Bragiel, senior majoring in biology and pre-medicine.

Lake Villa: Sean Murray, sophomore; Jacqueline M. Gridley, senior majoring in education and history and political science; Michael B. Hoff, first-year student; Rebecca C. Hopman, first-year student; Philip C. Rabe, first-year student; and Alexis R. Silvers, first-year student.
