Two men charged in separate Villa Park burglaries
Two men suspected of separate crimes were arrested this week by Villa Park police.
Justin P. McSweeney, 27, of 12 E. Sunset Ave. in Villa Park, is facing retail theft charges in connection to the theft of tools from a local hardware store, police said Thursday.
McSweeney also has been charged with one count of burglary in connection to the Feb. 22 theft of $500 from the office of a business on the 1100 block of North Ellsworth Avenue.
Burglary is a Class 2 felony. A conviction carries a penalty of three to seven years in prison. Retail theft is a Class 4 felony. A conviction carries a penalty of one to three years in prison.
McSweeney was being held on $50,000 bond in DuPage County jail.
On Thursday, Villa Park police also announced the arrest of Robert J. Gadamowitz.
Gadamowitz, 18, of 736 Spring St. in Roselle, has been charged with residential burglary.
Police said they believe Gadamowitz was involved in a burglary at an apartment on the 500 block North Ardmore Avenue.
A resident of the apartment came home about 2:20 a.m. Tuesday to discover that the window screen was torn and $400 cash was missing.
Police say the victim identified Gadamowitz as one of two suspects he thought may have been involved in the burglary.
The victim on Tuesday afternoon located Gadamowitz on the 400 block of North Princeton Avenue and detained him until police arrived.
Gadamowitz was wanted on an outstanding warrant by Roselle police for burglary, authorities said.
Residential burglary is a Class 1 felony. A conviction carries a penalty of four to 15 years in prison.
Gadamowitz was being held on $50,000 bond in DuPage County jail.
