MCC spring graduation ceremony Saturday

McHenry County College's Spring 2008 graduation ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Multipurpose Room, Building A (the gym) on the MCC campus at 8900 Route 14, Crystal Lake.

About 130 students, out of the 410 students who have applied for graduation with 221 degrees and 189 certificates, will participate in the commencement ceremony.

Angela G. Edwards of Crystal Lake has been selected as the student speaker for the commencement ceremony. Edwards will graduate with an associate's degree in science, with honors, and is in the Honors Program. In the fall, she will attend the Spanish Language Institute in San Jose, Costa Rica.

Also speaking will be MCC President Walter Packard. Thomas Takayama will give the "faculty charge" speech . Takayama also will be recognized as MCC's nominee for the Outstanding Faculty Member of the Year award of the Illinois Community College Trustee Association.
