Firefighters serve pancake breakfast
The Long Grove Firefighters Association and South Lake County Regional Community Emergency Response Team will present their "Flaming Flapjacks Pancake Breakfast" from 8:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at Long Grove Fire Protection District, 1165 Old McHenry Road.
Long Grove firefighters will serve an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast, with flapjacks, sausage, muffins, coffee, orange juice and more for $5 per person (free for kids under 3).
The event will feature live music by Tom Swenson, a 50/50 raffle, chair massages, and a silent auction for gift certificates and gift baskets, as well as chocolate chip pancakes, face painting, balloon animals and a Firefighter Puppet Show at 10:30 a.m.
Monarch conducts hospice training
Monarch Hospice and Palliative Care will conduct hospice volunteer training from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at their office, 3115 N. Wilke Road, Suite H, Arlington Heights. Those successfully completing the two-part training will be certified hospice volunteers.

Concert to benefit NIU scholarships
Prospect High School's Chamber and Varsity Choirs will perform a concert titled "…And the Light" at 2 p.m. Sunday at the First Presbyterian Church of Arlington Heights, 302 N Dunton Ave., Arlington Heights. Art classes offered in Long Grove
The Long Grove Park District will offer Young Rembrandt's art classes for ages 6 to 12 from 3:05 to 4:05 p.m. Wednesdays April 9 through May 21 at Country Meadows School, 6360 Gilmer Road, Long Grove, or Thursdays April 10 through May 22 at Killdeer Countryside School, 3100 Old McHenry Road, Long Grove. Harper will host college night
The annual College Night at Harper College will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Harper College Wellness and Sport Center in Building M. Harper College is at Euclid and Roselle Roads in Palatine.
