Lights are on after school; Girl Scouts are home
From 5 to 7 p.m. today, Girl Scouts-Sybaquay Council will join organizations nationwide by sponsoring a free Lights on Afterschool event at Pump It Up, 1095 Pingree Road, Crystal Lake.
This celebration will be one of 7,500 such events around the nation on that day -- the eighth annual Lights On Afterschool celebration.
At this event, all girls in kindergarten through fifth grade, accompanied by a parent or guardian, are invited to attend this action-packed free event and learn more about the premier after-school program just for Girl Scouts.
Girls will meet new friends and have fun jumping, climbing, sliding, bouncing, creating, exploring and more.
Siblings are welcome to join in the fun as well.
Current Girl Scouts who come and bring a friend can earn Sybaquay's Make New Friends patch if their friend joins Girl Scouts.
Lights on Afterschool is a nationwide event to recognize the critical importance of high-quality after school programs in the lives of children, their families and communities.
It is a project of the Afterschool Alliance, a nonprofit public awareness and advocacy organization working to ensure that all children have access to high-quality after school programs.

Girl Scouts-Sybaquay Council is headquartered in Elgin and serves over 10,500 girls and 2,800 adults in 50 communities in McHenry County and parts of Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Lake, LaSalle, and Kane counties.
