'One Man, One Year' creator to talk

North Central College will feature Yahoo News correspondent Kevin Sites for a discussion titled "One Man, One Year, A World of Conflict" at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the Harold and Eva White Activities Center, 325 E. Benton Ave. A former war correspondent for ABC, NBC and CNN, Sites talks about his one-year project to cover every armed conflict in the world. For details, call (630) 637-5276.

Group's Earth Day dinner Thursday

The Conservation Foundation will hold its annual Earth Day Benefit Dinner at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Bobak's Signature Events, 6440 Double Eagle Drive, Woodridge. The foundation also will hold its Native Plant Sale offering more than 100 native plants, trees and shrubs. Deadline for orders is May 6 with pickup available May 31 at the McDonald Farm, 10S404 Knoch Knolls Road, Naperville. A limited number of plants will be available the day of pickup. Plants are from Taylor Creek Restoration Nurseries or Applied Ecological Services in Brodhead, Wis. Check out expo of alternative fuels

Wheaton College will celebrate Earth Day with a 2008 Alternative Fuel Vehicle Exposition from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Todd M. Beamer Student Center, 501 College Ave., Wheaton. The event is free and open to the community with a free lunch and seminars at 11 a.m. about Alternative Fuels 101 and at 1 p.m. Future of Alternative Vehicles. Test vehicles will be available for participants to test drive. Registration for test drives is required by calling (630) 752-5384.

Focus on Deadly Combination

"Drinking & Driving - A Deadly combination" is at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the village of Glendale Heights, 300 Civic Center Plaza, Glendale Heights. Students from Glenbards East, North and West attending with an adult will be eligible for prizes including free prom tickets. House walk to benefit children

The Glen Ellyn Infant Welfare Society will hold its 24th annual House Walk with tours from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 5 to 9 p.m. May 9. The tour features four homes: 386 Main St., 715 Crescent, 739 Duane and 905 Jenna. Advance tickets are $30 and available at Sign of the Whale Antiques, Cabs Wine Bar Bistro, Fuchsia Boutique in Glen Ellyn and Toms-Price in Wheaton.
