'Storm'-ing to a great season finish

In the first of their back-to-back championships, the St. Charles Storm sixth-grade girls travel team opened up the DuPage League Tournament in Wheaton on March 1. They received a bye to the semifinals, where they beat Wheaton 31-15. In the championship game against the Bartlett Hawks, the Storm pulled away late to take the title 36-25.

For the final games of the season, the Storm then traveled to the Wisconsin Dells on March 7 and 8 for in a 16-team tournament. The Storm started off strong by winning all three games in pool play. They beat Onalaska 29-20, the Portage Tigers 48-20, and 29-25 over the Middleton Cardinals.

After beating Wannakee in the semifinals 38-27, the Storm were in the championship game against New Berlin West. In a tight defensive game, the Storm hung on 25-23.

The Storm won their last nine games for a 52-14 season record. They won three first-place trophies, two second-place finishes, and one third-place finish in their tournament appearances.
