Used book sale to start Thursday
The Friends of the Oak Brook Public Library's used book sale will be Thursday through Saturday at the library, 600 Oak Brook Road.
The pre-sale will be from noon to 4 p.m. Thursday; admission costs $5. The sale continues from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday and 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Admission is free. Silent auction bids will be accepted until noon Saturday.

Mobile food pantry to visit Lombard
The Northern Illinois Food Bank's Mobile Food Pantry will visit Outreach House from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday at First Church of Lombard, 220 S. Main St.
Numbers will be distributed at 3 p.m., so visitors should not arrive before then. Proof of Lombard or Villa Park residency and a photo ID are required.

Village hall open Saturday for sales
The Lombard village hall, 255 E. Wilson Ave., will be open for vehicle sticker and dog license sales only from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday. Vehicle stickers must be purchased by April 30. For details, call (630) 620-5749.
Free home buyer class is Saturday
The DuPage Homeownership Center will offer a free class for first-time home buyers from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Addison village hall, 1 Friendship Plaza.
Experts will discuss types of mortgages and how to qualify for a loan. They also will offer tips about how to find the right home, how to negotiate sales contracts and how to hire professionals, such as attorneys and home inspectors.

CPR, first aid classes available
The Lombard Fire Department will offer CPR and first aid classes from 6:30 to 10 p.m. on the following dates at Station 1, 50 E. St. Charles Road, Lombard. Registration is required.
A health-care provider class will be May 5 and 8, and the first aid class will be May 19. The health-care provider class is for licensed professionals. Participants must attend both sessions. First aid and Heartsaver CPR/AED are for lay rescuers.
The cost for the health-care provider class is $28 for Lombard residents, $39 for others. The first aid class costs $16 for Lombard residents, $22 for others. For details, call (630) 620-5736.
Villa Park pool passes now on sale
Villa Park Recreation is selling passes for Jefferson and Lufkin pools at the Iowa Community Center, 338 N. Iowa Ave.; the Community Recreation Building, 320 E. Wildwood; and online at www.vprd.org.
The cost is $25 for residents until May 10 and $29 after. New and replacement passes require a photo that must be taken at the Iowa Community Center.
