Country concert raises funds for PADS services

McHenry County Public Action to Deliver Shelter held a benefit concert featuring the country band Emerson Drive on Feb. 29 at the Raue Center for the Arts in Crystal Lake.

About 400 people came out to support PADS and enjoy the country music of Emerson Drive, including the award-winning song "Moments."

All proceeds from the concert will be used to provide emergency and transitional shelter and supportive services for homeless men, women and children of McHenry County.

McHenry County PADS thanks all the people who came to the concert, along with the businesses that supported this event through donating items for the silent auction and purchasing ads for the program book.

The mission of McHenry County PADS is to provide emergency, transitional and preventive measures for homeless individuals and families of McHenry County.

The year-round day center provides services including mental health support, job counseling, laundry facilities, showers, emergency sleeping rooms, kitchen facilities, case management and referrals to social services. The seven cold weather emergency church shelter sites are open Oct. 1 through April 30.

The PADS Transitional housing program provides a stable, year-round living environment to individuals who are working their way out of homelessness.

McHenry County PADS is a program of Pioneer Center for Human Services based in McHenry.
