Briefs: Crash witnesses sought

Three victims of a four-car collision in Streamwood Wednesday remained hospitalized Friday. A 60-year-old Bartlett woman was in critical condition and her 60-year-old husband in serious condition at St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates. The 48-year-old Schaumburg man whose vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic was in serious condition at Sherman Hospital in Elgin. The drivers of the two other vehicles involved in the aftermath of the initial collision did not require hospitalization. Streamwood police are still seeking witnesses of the accident who can call (630) 736-3700.

Sears Centre to host hoops

Tickets go on sale today for the Class 3A and 4A Illinois High School Association boys basketball supersectionals scheduled for March 11 at the Sears Centre arena in Hoffman Estates. The Class 3A game tips off at 6:30 p.m., while the Class 4A game starts at 8 p.m. The winner of those games will head to the state finals in Peoria. New athletic directors

Palatine-Schaumburg High School District 211 announced Thursday the hiring of three new athletic directors. Augustino "Augie" Fontanetta will take over at Fremd High School in Palatine for outgoing director Jack Drollinger. John Kane will take over at Conant High School in Hoffman Estates for Washington Bush. Steve Lacni will take over at Hoffman Estates High School for Gene Curran. All three will start July 1. Fontanetta is the kinetic wellness department coordinator and head wrestling coach at New Trier High School in Winnetka. Kane has been an assistant principal at Conant since 2002 and is also its head wrestling coach. Lacni is co-athletic director at Elk Grove High School and teaches in the school's math and science division.

Resource center opens

The Hanover Park Community Resource Center opens to the public today. Living Christ Lutheran Church has donated the use of its building at Greenbrook Boulevard and Arlington Drive from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday. The center will feature a computer lab equipped with basic programs and a quiet study area with books. Trained volunteers will tutor, teach basic computer classes and provide life coaching. The Dominick's at 1160 W. Lake-Cook Road in Buffalo Grove celebrated its reopening as a Lifestyle store Friday. Features include locally grown fresh produce, a larger organic food section, floral designers providing personalized service, a broader selection of pre-cooked foods, a broader selection of gourmet cheeses, an olive bar, a larger wine section and a new Starbucks.
