Briefs: Have say in state spending

State Sen. Pam Althoff and state representatives Jack Franks and Mike Tyron will lead a discussion today of the state's financial deficit and give residents an opportunity to say where the state's money should be going. Robbery reward offered

Huntley police and Crime Stoppers of McHenry County are seeking information about the man who robbed Castle Bank at 2:27 p.m. on March 10. A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered by Crime Stoppers to anyone with information about the robbery which will lead to the arrest and conviction of the people involved. Information can be given to Huntley police at (847) 515-5311 or the McHenry County Crime Stoppers at (800) 762-7867. Crime Stoppers does not use caller identification.

Dundee-Crown plan OK'd

A restructuring plan that aims to boost reading and math scores at Dundee-Crown High School in Carpentersville has been approved. Community Unit District 300 must adopt a restructuring plan for the school because students have not met state standards since 2002. The plan will offer more night and summer classes, a freshman academy and coaches that will work with teachers on curriculum. The $225,700 plan will take effect in the 2008-2009 school year.

Superintendent search

Milwaukee-based superintendent search firm ProAct Inc. will present a list of superintendent candidates this evening to the Elgin Area School District U-46 board. During the closed meeting, the board will select the candidates they will interview in early April.
