Briefs: Wayne forum tonight
The village of Wayne has planned a town hall meeting today to present information about a pending sale of Elgin, Joliet ans Eastern Railroad to the Canadian Natonal Railroad. The meeting is set for 7 to 9 p.m. at Wayne Elementary School, 5N443 School St. In a statement, Village President Eileen Phipps said the sale could "drastically increase" traffic on the railroad, which runs north and south through the eastern third of the village. "The CN proposal would create a virtual wall through our community," she said. Call (630) 584-3090.
Randall traffic warning
Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction today and Thursday on Randall Road so crews can conduct inspections on the bridge over the Union Pacific Railroad and Tyler Creek Bridge, which are south of Big Timber Road. Authorities expect delays and are asking motorists to use caution. Concerns about the project can be brought to Mike Zakosek at (630) 584-1170.
Tax help for seniors

Open house at NIU
Northern Illinois University will hold an open house for prospective students from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday at the Holmes Student Center on campus.
