Ryg offers scholarships to residents of district
State Rep. Kathy Ryg has announced that she is accepting applications for the 2008-09 General Assembly Legislative College Scholarships until April 8.
Eight one-year, full tuition scholarships are available to high school seniors, college and graduate students attending Illinois state universities in the fall. Eligible applicants must be residents of the 59th District, which includes all of or parts of Buffalo Grove, Green Oaks, Gurnee, Indian Creek, Lake Bluff, Lake Forest, Libertyville, Lincolnshire, Mettawa, Mundelein, North Chicago, Northbrook, Park City, Prairie View, Riverwoods, Vernon Hills, Waukegan and Wheeling.
Awards will be made in conjunction with the Illinois Student Assistance Commission. Financial need will be determined by their scoring of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Ryg's legislative scholarship selection will be guided by the following criteria: scholarship; financial need; community service and extracurricular activities; and an essay on educational goals.
