Briefs: Antioch burglary arrest
Three men were arrested early Tuesday morning following a burglary in the Neumann Homes subdivision in Antioch. James J. Stay, 40, and Nicholas E. Wilson, both of 208 Briar Lane, Lindenhurst, and Scott A. Stay, 33, of 1358 Elm St., Spring Grove, were charged with burglary after Antioch police discovered them with copper tubing and aluminum taken from an unfinished home in the area of 1585 White Lake Drive, Antioch police Cmdr. James Ruth said. The value of the material is estimated at $1,000, Ruth said. The three men were taken to Lake County bond court Tuesday afternoon.
Cash for tech campus
Lake County High Schools Technology Campus near Grayslake announced Tuesday receipt of a $2,000 prize from Best Buy Co. The award was for the vocational campus' use of interactive technology in its curriculum. Juniors and seniors at the tech campus may enroll in a course that teaches them all aspects of radio and television production. The tech campus serves students at 19 high schools in Lake County and three in McHenry County. Roughly 1,300 schools across the country received $2,000 as part of what's called the Best Buy Teach Award.
New administrator chosen
The Libertyville-Vernon Hills Area High School District 128 board on Monday named Marina Scott as the district's next associate superintendent. Scott, now the principal at Fremd High School in Palatine, will replace Prentiss Lea this summer when Lea takes over as superintendent. Lea will replace David Clough, who is retiring.
Disciplinary hearing set
Kildeer police officer Suzan Jackson faces a disciplinary hearing Thursday on charges she violated several departmental rules and regulations. The Kildeer Police Department just completed an internal investigation into Jackson's arrest by the Lake County sheriff's police in January for, authorities allege, driving 61 mph over the speed limit while under the influence of alcohol. Jackson is charged with DUI, reckless driving and speeding. She was off duty at the time and was driving a personal car. After she was pulled over by a Lake County sheriff's sergeant, Jackson was asked and refused to take a Breathalyzer test and field sobriety tests, police said Following the internal investigation, Kildeer Police Chief Jeffrey Lilly filed a complaint against Jackson with the Kildeer Police Commission alleging several violations including: violation of law, interfering with a police investigation, conduct unbecoming an officer, neglect of duty and attempting to derive private benefit from departmental association. If found guilty, Jackson, 42, could be fired from the department. Jackson has been placed on indefinite paid administrative leave from her job.
