Baseball
Coaching clinic: The Sports Academy-Northwest Multi-Sport Facility, 355 Hastings Drive, Buffalo Grove, will host a free professionally-directed training program from 1 to 4 p.m. March 9 for volunteer baseball coaches. The clinic will help coaches learn the latest methods to develop fundamentally-sound players and teams.
The workshop will be led by speaker and baseball consultant Peter Caliendo, technical director of TSA Baseball.

Spring camps: Elmhurst Youth Baseball, Elmhurst Extreme Baseball and Fastball USA are teaming up for a spring throwing/pitching camp for 7- to 12-year-olds from 6 to 8 p.m. April 11 and 4 to 6 p.m. April 12. A step-by-step approach to throwing and pitching mechanics will be followed. The camp, held at Fastball USA in Elmhurst, will be run by a Fastball USA instructor with assistance from Elmhurst Extreme 12-year-old team and Blackbelt pitching students.

Vintage team: Anyone may join the 2008 Chicago Salmon vintage baseball team either as a player or a "crank."
Players range from 18 to 59, and play according to the rules of 1858. The team plays without baseball mitts, using a 9½-inch "lemon peel" style baseball. There is no stealing and other differences from the modern game.
This year the Chicago Salmon will play approximately 27 games.

Members wanted: Midwest Bassbusters, a bass fishing club, is seeking a few new members at any level of experience. The group fishes one weekend a month from April through October, and monthly meetings are held at Where Else Lounge, Higgins and Lively roads in Elk Grove Village. Football/cheer
Falcons Registration: Streamwood Falcons Football & Cheerleading registration for 2008 will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., March 1 at Park Place Family Recreation Center, 550 S. Park Blvd., Streamwood.
The Streamwood Falcons traveling football program gives participants the opportunity to learn how to play football and cheer in a structured environment. Participants learn the value of teamwork, sportsmanship, physical fitness and athletic competition. The football program is open to 5- to 13-year-old players, and the cheer program includes those in kindergarten through eighth grade. The season begins in early August and runs though the end of October, excluding playoffs.
A minimum $100 payment per child is required at registration. The total fees are $255, which includes $70 of total refunds at the end of the year. The program is also open to nonresidents of Streamwood.

Golf
Mixed golf league: The Monday twilight mixed "fun golf" league is seeking new golfers. The league plays at Old Orchard Country Club from May through August with tee times starting at 4:15 p.m. Weekly play is not mandatory, and discounted greens fees are available for Prospect Heights nonresidents. There are contests each week, and an annual tournament in September at another course with cash prizes awarded based on handicapped foursome performance.

Players wanted: Mount Prospect Senior Mixed Golf League is looking for golfers at least 55 years old for the league which plays on Wednesday from May 7 to Sept. 24 at Mount Prospect Golf Course. Tee times start at 6:32 a.m. and end at 8:16 a.m. The season kicks off with a luncheon April 25 and ends with a luncheon Oct. 5 The $50 cost includes both luncheons, reserved tee times and prizes. Hockey
Stevenson vs. Warren: The Stevenson Patriots bounced back from a tough loss to Loyola to beat the Warren Blue Devils 7-0 in a Metro North Junior Varsity hockey game. The victory clinched second place in Metro North for Stevenson with one regular season game remaining to be played.
Within nine minutes, Stevenson had jumped to a 3-0 lead. Jake Gould scored with help from Ricky Razdolsky, and then Wayne Glickstern scored on a rebound from Justin Krupp. Finally, leading scorer Kollin Fairbanks scored unassisted on a rink-length dash and shot.
For the rest of the game, Stevenson added goals by Justin Krupp, Marc Weiner, Razdolsky and Tyler St. Martin. Goalie Mitch Levinson made two excellent saves.
