Paul helps Devils snap losing skid

Warren's boys basketball team finally got back in the win column and avenged a loss in the process.

Brandon Paul scored 22 points to lead the visiting Blue Devils to a 60-44 win over Libertyville in a North Suburban Lake Division makeup game Tuesday night.

The two teams were originally scheduled to play last Friday.

Warren (11-9, 5-6) -- which lost to Libertyville 66-58 on Jan. 9 -- also received 10 points from James Poliquin and 9 from David Duncan.

Paul scored 7 points in the fourth quarter, as the Blue Devils outscored the Wildcats 17-8 after leading only 43-36 after three.

Libertyville (8-11, 3-7) was led in scoring by Joey Aiello with 16 points (four 3-pointers). Jeremy Letchford added 11.

The Wildcats have lost three in a row and five of their last six.

Z-B 66, Lake Zurich 61: The Bears had three players score in double figures but lost the North Suburban Lake Division game.

Brandon Kunz led Lake Zurich (9-10, 0-9) with 18 points, 7 rebounds, 4 steals and 2 blocked shots. Connor Mooney added 16 points and Austin Cox chipped in 13. Mooney and Cox both hit three 3-pointers.

Zion-Benton improved to 23-3 and 8-2. The Zee-Bees took a half game lead over idle Stevenson for first place in the NSC Lake.

Girls basketball

Lake Zurich 43, Round Lake 42: Olivia Allen had 14 points for the Bears in the North Suburban Conference crossover.

Peggie Parhas added 11 (three 3-pointers) for Lake Zurich (21-9).

Round Lake (22-5) received 15 points from Labrenthia Murdock and 12 from Brittany Kucia.

Stevenson 45, Wauconda 36: The Patriots received balanced scoring in earning the North Suburban crossover win.

Claire Moller led Stevenson (10-18) with 9 points. Anna Morrissey had 8, while Caitlin Morrissey and Courtney Graber each scored 7.

Wauconda's Lauren Mead led all scorers with 26 points (four 3-pointers).

Kate Martino had 8 for Wauconda (11-13).

Z-B 58, Vernon Hills 52: Abby Hanson had 19 points and Brittany Simmons added 16 for the Zee-Bees in the North Suburban crossover.

Vernon Hills (10-18) received 15 points from Amy Burton, 13 from Mallory Feece and 12 from Brianna Skeens. Skeens also had 9 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 assists. Kelly Nagle dished out 5 assists for the Cougars.
