Cause of fire still unknown
Wauconda fire officials Monday said they were still trying to determine what caused a truck to catch fire after it killed a Lake Barrington man who was working underneath it. Lake County Coroner Richard Keller said Ari Squire, 39, died immediately from injuries to the chest and not from the fire. Police originally thought the truck fire that occurred inside the garage at the home on the 28000 block of North Lakeview Drive killed Squire, but Keller said Squire was dead before the fire started.
One hurt in fire
One person was injured Sunday night in a house fire near Lincolnshire. The blaze was reported about 7 p.m. at 16754 Easton Ave. The fire was discovered in the walls behind a chimney connected to a basement wood-burning stove, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire Protection District officials said. Firefighters took about an hour to put out the blaze. A male homeowner was taken to an area hospital because of smoke exposure, authorities said, but he later was released. The cause of the fire was under investigation Monday. A damage estimate was not available.
