VIP Club to hold art and craft fair

The Schaumburg High School Very Interested Parents Club holds its annual Spring Art and Craft Fair from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the school, 1100 W. Schaumburg Road.

Featured will be 120 crafters and artists from across the state. Offerings include handcrafted items, candles, jewelry and seasonal decor, stained glass, whimsical purses and recycled wood crafts.

Admission is $1 for adults, and free for students and children. Concessions, including pizza, hot dogs and bake sale items, also will be available. Parking is free, and the fair is handicapped accessible.

High schoolers win Honeywell prize

Five Northwest suburban high school students have won scholarships to the Honeywell Scholars @ Presidential Classroom program, held Sunday to March 8 in Washington, D.C.

They will join students from around the globe learning about the interconnection between science, technology and public policy and meeting with elected officials, business leaders and government appointees to discuss current issues of global concern.

Honeywell awards the scholarships after a rigorous application and review process based on academic achievement and community involvement. Winners are: Matthew Bauer of Schaumburg, a senior at Schaumburg High School; Matthew Farrenkopf of Buffalo Grove, a senior at Adlai Stevenson High School; Bryan Lee of Schaumburg, a senior at Conant High School; Adam Mastrangeli of Bartlett, a senior at Bartlett High School and Marietta Smith of Mount Prospect, a senior at Prospect High School.
