Baseball
New players wanted: The Chicago North Men's Senior Baseball League is seeking new players for the upcoming 2008 season. The league is baseball using MLB rules. There are four age divisions: 25 and older, 35 and older, 45 and older, and 55 and older. The season runs from May to September with 25 to 30 games, played at fields in Des Plaines, Northbrook and Bensenville.
The signup deadline is Feb. 28. A league-wide new player evaluation session will be held at 1 p.m. March 1. The cost per-player is approximately $300 for the season. Basketball
Area 2 results: Special Olympics Basketball teams competed in the Special Olympics Area 2 Tournament on Jan. 27. SRACLC's results were Black team, third; Gold team, third; and Red team, second.
Four individuals from SRACLC competed in the Special Olympics' Individual Skills Tournament. Their results were: Donna G., Gold Medal; Chris K., Gold Medal; Nathan H. , Silver Medal; and Eugene K., fourth place.
The SRACLC is a cooperative effort of local municipalities and park districts to provide recreation opportunities to individuals with disabilities and serve residents of the Grayslake Community Park District, Village of Hawthorn Woods, Village of Lake Zurich, Village of Libertyville, Village of Lincolnshire, Mundelein Park and Recreation District and Vernon Hills Park District.

Swimming
Swim meet: CATS Aquatic Team will hold a swim meet for students in first to eighth grade March 3 at Vernon Hills High School, 145 N. Lakeview Parkway, Vernon Hills.
Individual races will be organized by grade level, and each participant will be given an opportunity to swim a freestyle and backstroke event.There will be separate heats of current swim team members and heats of students who have never been on a swim team. A 4 x 25 freestyle relay will be organized toward the end of the meet. Competitive swimming experience is not necessary but children should feel comfortable in deep water.
The pool will open at 2:15 p.m. for warm-ups and all participants should arrive no later than 2:30 p.m. The meet will begin at 3 p.m. Each child must be accompanied by an adult. Heat winners will be presented with an award, and a trophy will be presented to the winning school. A complimentary gift will be given to all participants who swim. There is no charge.

Wrestling
Invitational results: The Lakeland Wrestling Club's Predators hosted their own invitational Feb. 3 at Grant High School with approximately 450 wrestlers participating. The Predators saw a season-high 10 wrestlers crowned as champions. These wrestlers included Kurtis Smith. T.J. Conner, Niall Schoenfelder, Ben Weigman, Lucas Schevikhoven, George Bessette, Noah Drabek, Pat Schoenfelder, Jared Smith and Jimmy Ponce.
Tourney results: More than 700 wrestlers competed in the Cabin Fever Open Jan. 28 at Marengo High School. Lakeland Predators wrestlers who won championships were Lucas Schevikhoven, Moah Drabek, Nicholas Koch, Tyler Booth, Teddy Montemayor, Devin Monroy and Niall Schoenfelder.
Lakeland held its annual Predator Open Feb. 3 at Grant Community High that featured clubs from the entire Chicago area.
