Chicken roaster blamed for Lake in the Hills grocery store blaze
A small oven used to roast chickens is responsible for a fire at a Lake in the Hills grocery store, authorities said Monday.
No one was injured in the Monday blaze at the Dominick's Finer Foods store at 101 N. Randall Road, and its cause is still under investigation, according to a news release.
At 1:04 p.m., the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District arrived at the store after reports surfaced that flames and smoke were coming from the oven.
Employees and customers evacuated the store once the building's fire alarm sounded.
There was no significant damage to the store, and employees returned to their jobs shortly once fire personnel left the scene.
Fire personnel from Huntley and Crystal Lake assisted.
