DuPage Opera to stage 'Otello'
The DuPage Opera Theatre will perform Giuseppe Verdi's "Otello" at 8 p.m. today, 2 p.m. Sunday and 8 p.m. Thursday and Feb. 2 at the McAninch Arts Center at College of DuPage, 425 Fawell Blvd., Glen Ellyn.
The opera will be sung in Italian with English supertitles and the New Philharmonic Orchestra will provide accompaniment.

Ski clubs to offer cross country event
The Northern Illinois Nordic Ski Association and Nordic Fox Ski Club will hold a Cross-country Skiing Day from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday with the Wheaton Park District at Arrowhead Golf Club, 26W151 Butterfield Road, Wheaton. Library to welcome children's author
The Warrenville Public Library will feature children's author Laurie Lawlor at 2 p.m. Saturday at the library, 28W751 Stafford Place, Warrenville. Copies of her books will be available at the drop-in event. For details, call (630) 393-1171.
YMCA to host a valentine dance
The B.R. Ryall YMCA will hold a family Valentine's Day dance from 7 to 9 p.m. Feb. 8 at the Y, 49 Deicke Drive, Glen Ellyn.
The family event features a disc jockey and family photos. Admission is free for members, $5 per person for nonmembers. Concessions are available for a fee, and photos are $3.

Whole Food offers party food samples

SCARCE to host Eco-club meeting
School and Community Assistance for Recycling and Composting Education will hold a high school and college Eco-club representatives meeting Feb. 5 at the Roosevelt Glen Corporate Center, 799 Roosevelt Road, Building 2, Glen Ellyn.
The program for representatives of high school groups is from 4:30 to 6:30, while college reps meet from 6 to 8 p.m. Pizza will be served from 6 to 6:30 p.m. for both groups.
