Nursing exams scheduled at ECC

The Elgin Community College professional nursing program has scheduled opportunities in January to take the pre-admission exam for the spring or fall 2009 classes.

Remaining exams will be held at 9 a.m. and noon Thursday and Jan. 31 in the Testing Center, in room 108 of the Student Resource Center. Registration deadlines are Sunday and Jan. 27, respectively, and all seats are on a first come/first served basis. The building is located on the ECC main campus, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin.

The exam, sponsored by the National League for Nursing, is required prior to entering the nursing program. The nonrefundable fee for the test is $85, payable by cash, check or charge. Students must register and pay at nlnonlinetesting.org/pax.

Children's Deep Freeze Flea Market

The Gail Borden Public Library, 270 N. Grove Ave., Elgin, will hold the Children's Deep Freeze Flea Market at 1:30 p.m. Monday. Only kids may sell, but anyone is welcome to buy.

Everything will be priced at $4 or less. The event will be held indoors, so space is limited. Register in person at the Youth Center Help Desk. A signed parental permission slip is required at registration.

Job seekers invited to fair Thursday

Job seekers will find opportunities to meet potential employers at an upcoming job fair from noon to 3 p.m. Thursday at the Schaumburg Township District Library, 130 S. Roselle Road, Schaumburg.

Work of children's author to hit stage

The works of Shel Silverstein will be celebrated in the musical, "Where the Sidewalk Ends," produced by American Eagle Productions of Chicago. The performance will be held at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 18 at the Bartlett Community Center, 700 S. Bartlett Road.
