PBS host to speak at workshop
PBS host and author Kelvin Boston will be the keynote speaker at the REACH Inc. Economic Empowerment seminar from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the Westin Lombard, 70 Yorktown Center, Lombard.
The workshop also will include sessions about buying real estate, investing in stocks and planning for your child's education.
Tickets cost $15 in advance and $20 at the door, which includes lunch and parking. The program is sponsored by Regularly Extending Assistance to Community and Humanity, a not-for-profit organization that provides assistance to individuals and families, such as education, mentoring, career coaching, financial assistance, emergency housing and a food pantry. Library's magazine sale starts Saturday
The annual magazine sale runs Saturday through Feb. 10 at the Addison Public Library, 2 Friendship Plaza. Magazines from 2006 will be sold for 25 cents each, five for $1. For details, call (630) 543-3617.
GreenMan to hold staged reading

Be aware of sign guidelines
The village of Lombard Code Enforcement Division has established the following guidelines for political campaign signs.
• No signs may be placed on village property, including parkways and telephone poles.
• Signs only are permitted on private property with the owner's consent.
• Signs and posters must be smaller than 12-feet-by-12-feet.

District 44 seeks award nominations
Lombard Elementary School District 44 is seeking nominations for the Kathy Benard Friend of Education Award. Nominations are due Feb. 15. The award aims to recognize an individual or group outside of the district who has contributed significantly.
