Join in planning city skate parks

Residents of the Grant Park Neighborhood, areas adjacent to the proposed Prairie Park development on Willard Avenue, and the community are invited to assist in the design process for skate park facilities planned for the two parks.

The meeting will be at 5 p.m. Tuesday in the west conference room of The Centre of Elgin, 45 Symphony Way.

The meeting will provide an opportunity for residents to review and comment on preliminary concept plans prepared for both skate parks. City staff will be present to address issues such as budgets and projected timelines for construction.

A representative of the American Ramp Company will also be present to discuss the plans and equipment and answer technical questions regarding the skate park facilities.

According to Paul Bednar, the city's park development coordinator, they plan to have the skate park plans finalized at the end of the meeting and skaters should be able to use the facilities by summer. For details, call Bednar at (847) 931-6788.
