Get a free radon test kit
McHenry County Department of Health this month partners with local food pantries and their clients to offer free radon test kits. Kits also are available to other low- to moderate-income level McHenry County residents at no cost. For more information, call the health department at (815) 334-4585. Radon is a naturally occurring, invisible, odorless gas that is harmlessly dispersed in outdoor air, but when trapped in buildings, can be harmful at elevated levels. It is the second leading cause of lung cancer after smoking.
