Sales on clothing, puzzles and cards

The Algonquin St. John's Mission Resale Shop will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays.

The shop is in Algonquin one block west of Route 31 at 215 Washington St., with easy parking.

The shop has winter clearance sales on clothes and $1 puzzles and games to help with winter's indoor "cabin fever." There also are 5-cent greeting cards to cheer up a friend.

Seasonal donations are accepted only on Friday or Saturday when the shop is open. For more information, call (847) 658-9105.

Look over pets ready for homes

The monthly Adopt-A-Pet program will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in the Macy's wing at Spring Hill Mall, located at routes 31 and 72 in West Dundee.

Expected to participate in the Adopt-A-Pet event are: Anderson Animal Shelter of South Elgin, Helping Paws of Woodstock, Animal Outreach Society, Regap Greyhound Rescue, Assisi Animal Foundation and Shelter of Crystal Lake, Pets-In-Need of Ringwood, Min Pin Rescue and Strays Halfway House.

"Our Adopt-A-Pet program has been very successful in matching families and their perfect pet," said Diana Miller, general marketing manager of Spring Hill Mall.
