Btiefs: Stop Campton forum today
Eight candidates seeking to disband the village of Campton Hills if elected Feb. 5 will have a forum tonight to meet voters and answer questions about their positions. The meeting, featuring candidates from the Stop Campton Hills Public Action Committee, is at 7 p.m. at Congregational United Church of Christ, 40W451 Fox Mill Blvd. The slate consists of candidates for six village board seats, village clerk and village president. Incumbents and challengers were invited but have not confirmed plans to attend as of Tuesday, committee Chairman Chris Baldwin said.
BP school grants available
Area teachers are invited to apply for BP grants of up to $10,000. The A + for Energy program is available to any preschool through high school classroom teacher in an accredited or licensed public or private school within Kane, DuPage, Kendall, Cook, Lake, McHenry and Will counties. Winners are recognized for developing creative and student-focused classrooms, after-school, extracurricular or summer programs. While these programs must be centered on energy or energy conservation, they can move beyond science to incorporate reading, math, history, geography and the arts. Interested teachers can find out more about the program by going online to www.aplusforenergy.org. Applications must be postmarked or submitted online by March 7.
'Mulan' comes to Arcada
Rising Star Theatreworks of Geneva will present Disney's "Mulan" Friday through Sunday at the Arcada Theater, 105 E. Main St., St. Charles. The production includes a cast of more than 50 young people. Evening performances start at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Matinees are set for 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are $10 to $12.
