State's attorney annual honors:
Members of DuPage County State's Attorney Joe Birkett's staff were recognized for exemplary 2009 service during a Thursday ceremony in Wheaton. Ann Celine O'Hallaren was named felony assistant state's attorney of the year for her work, which included the prosecution of a Woodridge mother who fatally beat her daughter. Others honored: Audriana Anderson, Ray Bradford, Francis Cermak, Dave Hamm, Bethany Jackson, Jonathon Ko, Annette Morris and Arlene O'Hern. Birkett also was recognized by his management team for the Brian Dugan prosecution.
WW South holiday art show:
Wheaton Warrenville South High School will be hosting a holiday art show from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, in the school's library. Artwork created by first semester students will be displayed during the event, which is free and open to the public. Drawings, paintings, photographs, architectural artwork, collages, jewelry, ceramics and computer generated artwork will be displayed. The school is located at 1920 S. Wiesbrook Road, Wheaton. Convalescent center program:
DuPage County residents looking to give back during the holidays can participate in the county convalescent center's "Adopt-a-Resident" program. Residents at the convalescent center make holiday wish lists and participants can help make those wishes become reality by sponsoring one or more convalescent center residents this year. Anyone interested in participating in the program or providing other donations to the convalescent center is asked to call (630) 784-4246. Lions raising funds:
Roselle Lions Club will hold a Shop & Share on Dec. 7-9 at all local Jewel-Osco stores to raise money to help support Camp Lions of Illinois. Five percent of all purchases, excluding tax, made with an identification slip will be donated by Jewel-Osco. To pick up a Shop & Share identification slip, visit rosellelionsclub.org.
The bugs are back:
The Insect Zoo that recently visited DuPage Children's Museum received such an overwhelming positive response that the museum is scheduling a return visit from 10 a.m. to noon, Dec. 10, at 301 N.
