West Chicago man nabbed in cocaine bust

A 27-year-old West Chicago man is charged with dealing cocaine after a monthlong investigation by the DuPage County sheriff's office.

Erick Garcia was arrested Wednesday after a search of his home on the 1600 block of Orchard Court. Deputies found 115 grams of cocaine and two handguns in the search, sheriff's officials said. Because the guns and drugs were found within 1,000 feet of a school, the penalties against Garcia could be stiffer if convicted.

Garcia has a lengthy criminal history in the county, including pleading guilty to possession of a controlled substance in 2006, according to court records.

He is currently being held in lieu of a $200,000 bond at the DuPage County jail in Wheaton.
