Arlington Heights
• Burglars broke into a 1997 Honda Accord in a retirement complex parking lot at 800 W. Oakton St., between 7 p.m. Aug. 8 and 6:30 a.m. Aug. 9 and stole a CD player. • Thieves stole a flat-screen TV off a wall in the residents' lounge at Avalon Apartments, 200 N. Arlington Heights Road, between 9:30 p.m. Aug. 5 and 7 a.m. Aug. 6. • A witness saw a man steal a burgundy and silver 27-inch mountain bike out of an open garage on the 300 block of North Pine around 10:45 a.m. Aug. 6. The male Hispanic offender was described between 30 and 40 years old, 5 feet 7 inches tall, 150 pounds, black hair in a ponytail and wearing a white baggy shirt and blue baggy pants. • Vandals deflated four tires on a 2003 Nissan Sentra in an apartment lot on the 1600 block of North Windsor Drive between 7 p.m. Aug 8 and 6:20 p.m. Aug. 9 and placed a white envelope containing an unfired gun round on the windshield.
Buffalo Grove
• Someone spray painted words and a vulgar depiction onto the outer wall of Pritchett School 200 Horatio Blvd. overnight on Aug. 4.
• Thieves entered a vehicle in the 500 block of Lyon Drive overnight Aug. 4 and removed a purse, containing IDs and keys and a case of safety goggles.
• The owner of a van was cited for illegal dumping after a resident on Villa Verde Drive reported July 30 that a subject was dumping refuse into one of the Dumpsters and provided a license plate number.
• A resident of the 2300 block of Birchwood Drive reported finding a RCA television, a Mitsubishi VCR, and a Quasar VCR in the bushes on the east side of his property.
Burglary from Vehicle
• Thieves entered a truck in the 700 block of Heatherdown Way overnight Aug. 4 and removed a cell phone, a hand held GPS, a Dell laptop computer, a laser tape measure and $50 in cash. There were no signs of forced entry.
• Thieves entered a vehicle in the 300 block of Checker Drive overnight Aug. 3 and removed the navigation system. There were no signs of forced entry.
• A thief went into a purse Aug. 6 located under a desk in a business with more than 160 employees in the 1500 block of Busch Parkway and removed ten $100 bills.
Des Plaines
• A thief stole 23 British Sovereign Old English WorldWar I gold coins and 10 Krugerrand gold coins out of a home on the 800 block of East Grant between July 29 and Aug. 3. Value was estimated at $18,667.
• Scott T. Powell, 52, of the 300 block of Parkview Terrace, Buffalo Grove, was arrested around 10:40 p.m. Aug. 7 on the 400 block of South Elmhurst Road and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Reports said he crashed his car into a tree and an officer found a marijuana pipe on the ground next to his car. Powell admitted smoking the pipe while driving, reports said. His court date is Aug. 31.
• Christian Sanchez, 18, of the 0-100 block of West Fullerton Avenue, Glendale Heights, was arrested around 9 p.m. Aug. 7 on the 2000 block of Pine Street and charged with criminal defacement of property. Reports said he admitted spray painting gang graffiti on three buildings on the 1900 and 2000 blocks of Pine Street. His court date is Aug. 28.
• Thieves stole $1,300 out of a purse in a business reception area at 900 E. Rand Road between 9:20 a.m. and noon Aug. 7.
• Vandals ripped 15-20 signs from windows at the Metra depot, 1501 E. Miner St., between 6:30 p.m. Aug. 6 and 5:15 a.m. Aug. 7. Damage was estimated at $120.
Elk Grove Village
• Thieves stole a 2000 Volvo tractor and trailer worth $25,000 from a lot in the 2400 block of Higgins Road overnight July 30.
• Thieves took $300 from the center console of an unlocked 2000 Lincoln LS in the 1200 block of Maple Lane overnight Aug. 3.
• Vandals smashed out the driver side window of a 2003 Ford Explorer in an employee parking lot in the 2000 block of Touhy Avenue on the morning of Aug. 7, doing $200 in damage.
• A woman saw a man inside her unlocked blue 2004 GMC envoy in a driveway in the 800 block of Delphia. He fled without taking anything.
Mount Prospect
• Alejandro Cruz, 19, of the 500 block of Dempster Street, Mount Prospect, and Jaqueline Olmos, 19, of a separate residence on the 500 block of Dempster Street, Mount Prospect, were arrested around 11:50 p.m. Aug. 3 in an apartment complex on the 1900 block of West Algonquin Road and charged with criminal trespass. Reports said they hurled bottles and rocks at two people and chased them onto the apartment property. Cruz and Olmos had been cited previously for trespassing. Their court date is Sept. 9.
• A man pushed open a window screen and stole a laptop computer and cell phone out of a first-floor apartment on the 1300 block of Sir Galahad around 9 p.m. Aug. 4. The female victim saw the man climb out the front window as she entered the unit. Value was estimated at $539.
Rolling Meadows
• Martin Chavez, 21, of the 4700 block of Arbor Drive, Rolling Meadows, was arrested at 1:50 a.m. Aug. 2 on Arbor Drive and charged with aggravated DUI, DUI, driving while license revoked, improper lane usage and no proof of insurance, police said. He also had three Cook County Sheriff's Police warrants for his arrest, two for prior aggravated DUI arrests and one for criminal trespass to a vehicle. Bond was set at $250,000 for the new charges, with no bond set on the arrest warrants. His next court date is Aug. 24 in Rolling Meadows.
• Thieves cut the tie-down straps on the roof rack of a 2003 white Ford F350 and removed scaffolding material and a siding machine overnight Aug. 4 for a loss of $8,400. The vehicle was parked in the secured parking area of a public storage facility in the 900 block of Rohlwing Road.
• Thieves entered a room Aug. 1 in the Motel 6, 1800 Winnetka Circle, and removed $750.00 cash from a purse.
• Thieves smashed the front door glass of La Flor De Izucar Bakery, 2204 Algonquin Road, in the early morning of Aug. 2 and removed an undetermined amount of cash from the register.
Bartlett
• Selena Donald, 20, and Maxine Harker, 19, both of the 900 block of West Bartlett Road, Bartlett, were arrested around 5:30 p.m. Aug. 5 at their home and charged with mob action and battery. Their court date is Aug. 28.
•Patrick Tuggle, 25, of the 100 block of Plymouth Court, Bartlett, was arrested around 12:45 a.m. Aug. 9 at his home and charged with local ordinance loitering for the purpose of drug activity. His court date is Sept. 10.
• Burglars stole a GPS unit and iPod charger out of an unlocked car on Quincy Bridge Court overnight Aug. 2-3. Total value was estimated at $1,050.
Hoffman Estates
• Jose Louis Burgos, 33, of the 1900 block of Hicks Road, Palatine, was arrested around 3:50 p.m. Aug. 6 on the 800 block of North Roselle Road after a traffic stop and charged with possession of marijuana. His court date is Sept. 8.
• Burglars stole a GPS valued at $145 out of a 2007 Nissan Murano on the 600 block of Woodlawn between 12:15 and 7 a.m. Aug. 6.
• Burglars broke into a 2008 Toyota Yaris in a parking lot on the 1500 block of North Barrington Road between 11 p.m. Aug. 9 and 8:45 a.m. Aug. 10 and stole a radar detector and blue sweater. Loss was estimated at $330.
Palatine
• Guillermina Antonio, 29, of the 1500 block of Silver Lane, Palatine, was arrested around 5:15 p.m. Aug. 8 at TJ Maxx, 1311 N. Rand Road, and charged with retail theft after she hid clothes and cosmetics in her purse, paid for several other items, but left without paying for the hidden merchandise valued at $90.
• Jason T. Romero, 17, of the 1100 block of West Sturbridge, Hoffman Estates, was arrested around 6 p.m. Aug. 8 at Dominick's, 615 E. Dundee Road, and charged with retail theft after he hid two bottles of vodka, valued at $45, in his pants.
• Thieves stole a recumbent bicycle valued at $2,000 out of an open garage on the 1500 block of St. Marks Place between 3 and 3:15 p.m. Aug. 5.
• Burglars stole an in-dash CD player valued at $250 and approximately 500 CDs, no value given, out of an unlocked 1999 Volkswagen Jetta on the 200 block of North Hale Street between 1 and 3 a.m. Aug. 8.
•Burglars stole a desktop computer and a laptop out of an unlocked 1996 Jeep Cherokee on the 300 block of North Benton Street between 8 p.m. Aug. 7 and 10 a.m. Aug. 8.
• Burglars stole a GPS unit and loose change, total value estimated at $156, out of an unlocked 1995 Volvo sedan on the 200 block of Bothwell Street between 8 p.m. Aug. 7 and 8 a.m. Aug. 8.
Schaumburg
• Jovani Perez, 18, of the 1100 block of Candle Nut Drive, Palatine, was arrested around 4 p.m. Aug. 8 at Nordstrom Rack, 1520 E. Golf Road, and charged with trespassing. He had been banned from the store for a previous shoplifting case in February, reports said. His court date is Aug. 31.
• Burglars stole a cell phone, radar detector, and credit cards out of a 2009 BMW XI on the 0-100 block of Plumrose between 1 and 7 a.m. Aug. 6. Total value was estimated at $800.
• Carl Lee, 24, of the 1300 block of Caribu Lane, Hoffman Estates, was arrested around noon Aug. 6 at Mongolian Stir Fry, 16 E. Golf Road, and charged with a liquor law violation after he served beer to a 19-year-old police undercover agent without asking for an ID.
• Thieves stole a purse with cell phone and movie tickets from a 17-year-old girl while she played a game at 601 N. Martingale Road between 3:45 and 5:30 p.m. Aug. 7. Value was estimated at $341.
• Burglars broke into a Honda Pilot on the 600 block of North Mall Drive between 8 and 9:20 p.m. Aug. 7 and stole a briefcase. Loss was estimated at $1,000.
