Scouting Hoffman Estates @ Schaumburg
MID-SUBURBAN WEST
Hoffman Estates (0-6, 0-2) at Schaumburg (3-3, 1-1)
When 7:30 p.m. today at Gary Scholz Stadium
Last week Hoffman lost to Palatine 42-6; Schaumburg lost to Fremd 38-13
Outlook Schaumburg saw its three-game winning streak snapped but hopes to start another one and build some momentum for a second straight playoff run. "Our kids are responding appropriately and are focused on what we need to do to get where we need to be," said Schaumburg coach Mark Stilling. "Our focus isn't about whether we're playing Fremd or Hoffman, it's about us choosing to execute." The Saxons will look to get RB Warren Brewer, QB Mark Iannotti and crew going and they'll face their usual battle against a bigger opponent. Hoffman will turn the reigns at QB solely to junior David Gutierrez to run the triple option and Michael Reeves had a solid game with 73 yards rushing last week when it had an early chance to score but a drive to the Palatine 18 died on a fourth-down holding penalty. "We haven't had the opportunity to get up against anybody and our focus is to try and get up on them and change the mentality of us chasing points," said Hoffman coach Bill Helzer. "It's a great rivalry and our kids are geeked up so it should be fun." Schaumburg has won the last 10 meetings in a series it leads 23-11.
