Fox Lake says 'no parking'

The Village of Fox Lake has established "no parking" zones along three streets: Jack Frost Lane; Lakeside Road and a 30-foot portion of Lakeview Road.

Blood drive in Lake Zurich

The Lake Zurich Fire Department hosts a blood drive challenge from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 25. The Lake Zurich Lions Club is offering $5 in Alpine Bucks to donors, which can be used for rides, food and drinks at the nearby Alpinefest happening the same day. Indian-American youth honors

The Indian American Youth Organization, which was established last year, is seeking nominees for its first-ever Achievement Awards, aimed at honoring the accomplishments of youths of Indian background throughout the Midwest. Awards-winners will be honored at an Aug. 2 gala at India House Banquet, 1521 W. Schaumburg Road in Schaumburg. Bollywood singer Mauli Dave will perform live at the awards night, which will be televised later on TV Asia. Nominees are sought in the following categories: academic excellence, for 2009 high school graduates; sports excellence at the middle and high school level; and cultural excellence, to be determined through a singing and dance competition to be held Thursday, July 23, at India House, for children aged 4 and up, with winners performing at the Aug. 2 banquet.
