McHenry motorcyclist killed in Wauconda crash
A 25-year-old Libertyville woman is being held in lieu of $250,000 bail after her minivan collided with a motorcycle Thursday night near Wauconda, killing a 49-year-old McHenry man.
Dana Hoffman, of the 1400 block of Vineyard Lane, was traveling east on Case Road at about 10:25 p.m. when her 1996 Dodge Caravan crossed the yellow line and drifted into the opposite lane, Lake County Sheriff's Sgt. Christopher Thompson said.
Michael Adcock, of the 800 block of Allen Avenue in McHenry, was traveling west on Case on his 2005 Harley Davidson and could not swerve out of the way of the oncoming minivan, Thompson said.
Adcock was pronounced dead at the scene, Thompson said. He was not wearing a helmet.
Police discovered drug paraphernalia in Hoffman's possession, Thompson said, which tested positive for cocaine.
She was taken from the scene to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.
Hoffman was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash and unlawful possession of a controlled substance, he said. Additional charges may be filed.
Hoffman is due in court July 16, Thompson said.
