Jacobs Golden Eagles

Coach Ed Haugens (7th year, 126-58)

Conference Fox Valley (Valley)

Last year 20-10 (7-3 FVC Valley)

Top returners Seniors Maria Tamburrino (5-9 G), Kelsey Quitschau (5-7 G), Sierra Dunner (5-9 G), Kathleen Mammoser (5-9 F), Katy Cook (5-9 F), Hailey Cnota (5-9 G/F)

Top newcomers Juniors Melanie Schwergtmann (5-10 G/F), Alexis Leddy (5-8 G/F)

Outlook Coming off a 20-win season with four starters back, Jacobs should be right in the mix contending for the Valley championship. "I think we have a talented group here," said Haugens. "Individually we're very talented. It will all come down to how we jell as a group and come together. There's two concepts - rebounding and taking care of the basketball." Tamburrino, a returning all-area player, was one of the leading scorers in the area last year at 13.9 points per game. She also had 21 3-pointers. Cnota (23 3s) averaged 9.9 points and 4.2 rebounds and Cook scored 7.1 points and pulled down 6.8 rebounds per game last season. "All the girls have worked hard and improved at least one part of their game," Haugens said. "We worked really hard this summer and the girls were very committed. It's a great group of kids and I'm happy to work with them."
