Public works building renamed in Hoffman Estates

Hoffman Estates will host a ceremony next week to rename the village's public works building after Trustee Susan H. Kenley-Rupnow.

Kenley-Rupnow's work on the board was instrumental in building the public works center at 2305 W. Pembroke Ave. She spent 20 years on the board from 1985 to 2005, and died in February after a bout with cancer at age 58. She most recently served on the Palatine-Schaumburg High School District 211 board, as voters elected her in 2007.

The ceremony starts at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 1, at the public works building, which will be renamed The Susan H. Kenley-Rupnow Center. Refreshments will be served, and her daughter, Kris Beutel, will make a speech.
