Police upgrade Web site

The Addison Police Department launched its redesigned Web site, addisonpoliceillinois.org, on Wednesday. Developed in conjunction with Bending Design, Inc. of East Dundee, the site has been expanded to showcase different sections within the police department. New features include an extensive traffic enforcement section where one can e-mail traffic concerns or view up-to-date beat maps and lists of crime statistics. For details, contact Cmdr. Free diabetes screenings

Family Healthmart Pharmacy will offer free on-site diabetes screenings to residents from 4 to 7 p.m. June 17 at 942 Army Trail Road, Carol Stream. Patients should call (630) 213-0800 to set up an appointment. The tests will be for blood pressure, blood glucose, total cholesterol and hemoglobin A1c, which indicates if someone is at-risk for diabetes. For details, visit healthacrossamerica.net.

Western access discussion

Residents interested in learning more about the future of the Elgin-O'Hare Expressway, including potential extension and expansion options being considered by regional transportation planners, can attend a public information meeting from 5:45 to 6:45 p.m. June 22 at Roselle village hall, 31 S. Prospect St. The village and Illinois Department of Transportation invite resident to review maps and plans. There also will be a presentation on the proposed project and its impact on Roselle, followed by audience questions. The Elgin-O'Hare West Bypass proposal would extend the expressway east of Route 53/I-290, adding lanes to the existing Elgin-O'Hare and potential new western access to O'Hare Airport. Itasca Bike to Work Day

To celebrate Itasca's Bike to Work Day on June 19, the village will sponsor a Bicycle Commuter Station from 6 to 8:30 a.m. at the Metra station on Irving Park Road. Free coffee and pastries will be available for everyone who arrives by bicycle. Also, as part of Bike to Work Week, more than 25 percent of Itasca employees and elected officials have signed up for the Bike Commuter Challenge, pledging to bike to work at least once, at least part of the way, from June 13 to19.
